About our factory:

Goodweave Certification: The GoodWeave Standard assures that goods are produced without child labor, forced labor, or bonded labor. Certification requires complete supply chain transparency on the part of the manufacturers, who in doing so show their commitment to children’s rights, worker’s rights, and strengthened worker communities.

Care & Fair Certification  C&F is an initiative aimed at ending child labor in India, Nepal and Pakistan. Certification is met by adhering to a strict set of set of protection guidelines ensuring that no child labor was used and that workers enjoy a good quality of life and fair wages.

The production unit which manufactures our rugs is 100% dependent on solar energy, and all hand tufted weaving machines are run using solar energy

Our factory established and fully funds a school with a current enrollment of 140 students.

Handmade in India by skilled artisans

Our rugs are constructed by skilled artisans who dye the yarn using eco-friendly dyes before weaving our designs using a tool which pushes the yarn through a backing. This process is called hand tufting. Once the rug is fully tufted, artisans shear the pile by hand into varying pile heights to achieve the "high low" effect.

A note on shedding: During the shearing process, rug fibers may become embedded in the body of the rug. Although they eventually make their way out, it may take some time for them to do so. As a result, shedding will occur in the first weeks or months of owning your rug. This will decrease over time, but, depending on the use they receive, may in some cases take months to subside. We have recently upgraded to a very fine wool whose fibers are longer and more uniform than those in our previous wool. The result is that, while you may still experience some shedding, it will be greatly diminished from our previous hand tufted rug styles

None of our rugs are treated with any chemical coatings (including stain resistant and fire retardant finishes). However, the natural coating of wax on each wool fiber helps prevent moisture from penetrating the surface, and wool is a naturally stain-resistant and fire retardant material.

This rug is our most durable and easy to maintain rug. It’s tight weave can better withstand tears and pulls, and the fact that it is only minimally shorn (leaving the loops intact) means that it will hardly shed. Our one caveat is for pet owners - these same loops may prove irresistible for scratching, and once pulled, cannot be mended (though they can be trimmed).

Our rugs are constructed by skilled artisans who dye the yarn using eco-friendly dyes before weaving our designs using a tool which pushes the yarn through a backing. This process is called hand tufting. Once the rug is fully tufted, artisans leave much of the rug loops and randomly shear selected areas by hand.

As a result, shedding will occur in the first weeks or months of owning your rug. This will decrease over time, but, depending on the use they receive, may in some cases take months to subside. Since most of the rug is loop with only small portions of random shearing, shedding should be minimal compared with other hand tufted rug styles.

Bamboo is a natural viscose and rugs made from bamboo silk yarn have a soft and cool hand feel. While it has a reputation for being a delicate fiber easily damaged by water or crushed by furniture, vigorous cleaning, or foot traffic, we have also found them to be quite durable. Depending on your preference, you may or may not mind them being a little lived-in, especially as their subtle iridescence tends to conceal imperfections.

While we still consider these most suitable for low traffic areas, we love them and the subdued glamour they add to our home.

None of our rugs are treated with any chemical coatings (including stain resistant and fire retardant finishes). Due to the nature of how the bamboo silk rugs are tufted they may carry with them small marks from the tufting process.

Our Organic Cotton rugs are constructed by skilled artisans who dye the yarn using eco-friendly dyes before weaving our designs onto a loom. The rugs are then stretched and finished. Our first machine washable rug style, their texture is cool and smooth to the touch, like a pair of jeans that softens over time. Also like jeans, they are versatile, resiliant and endlessly adaptable.

None of our rugs are treated with any chemical coatings (including stain resistant and fire retardant finishes).

Our rugs are constructed by skilled artisans who dye the yarn using eco-friendly dyes before weaving our designs onto a loom. The rugs are then stretched and finished. Our flat weave rugs offer a lightweight and slightly more casual update to our trademark hand tufted rugs. Their texture is pleasantly scratchy (think vintage wool sweaters), but if you prefer a softer feel, you may want to check out our hand tufted styles (alternatively, if you crave an even more rustic rug, we also have woven hemp rugs).

None of our rugs are treated with any chemical coatings (including stain resistant and fire retardant finishes). However, the natural coating of wax on each wool fiber helps prevent moisture from penetrating the surface, and wool is a naturally stain-resistant and fire retardant material.

Hemp is an ecologically friendly plant that requires little water and no pesticides to grow. It is also renewable and biodegradable as well as naturally antimicrobial. And very durable. If the flat weave rugs are pleasantly scratchy, our hemp rugs are more like a pony's braid. They are rustic yet refined and look fantastic layered.

None of our rugs are treated with any chemical coatings (including stain resistant and fire retardant finishes).

Process: Once we finalize design and approve colors the factory purchases the yarn (they use an acrylic/wool blend as it is smoother for embroidery purposes). The yarn is then dyed to match our colors and chain-stitched using hand embroidery machines. After the designs are completed and inspected, they are washed and the backing and zipper are applied, before ironing and packing
